Don't try to impress others. Ask yourself if you really need a nice watch, or expensive jewelry. Do you wear such items to raise your confidence around others, or can you be confident for who you really are?
Without depending on materialistic items.
Do you really need the newest car, or the newest phone? Do you really need to go into debt, or could you use some extra cash in your wallet?
I am not saying that having all of these things are bad, but finding the right balance is key.
You don't need to have the best of everything. Just the best of what makes you happy in the long term. When making a purchase, Ask yourself if it will be worth it 5 years from now, 10 years from now, how about 15 years from now?
Choose to spend your money on making memories, on investing in the future, on investing in yourself.
